Quaynotes, based in Suffolk, UK, play a gentle mix of traditional and contemporary folk music, delivered with rich harmonies and good humour.

Julia Dansie on guitar, Claudia Myatt on Celtic harp, Anna Roberts on guitar…….

Founding members of Quaynotes are Julia Dansie and Claudia Myatt, graced by fellow musicians along the way….. here’s the current line up:

Julia Dansie

It’s been a huge pleasure singing and playing with some excellent musicians over the years, the last few in Quaynotes, and like the rivers and seas that touch my soul, I love that moment when my skin tingles, my heart lifts and the interactions between us all enriches, and builds bridges. The songs and music that breaks my heart too, are moments to hold.

I slung my first guitar on my back aged 16, jumped on the moped and headed for the first of a few lessons. Looking back I’m so pleased that the teacher encouraged finger picking and it’s been the bedrock of future work.

I embrace the “off-piste’ moments that life brings, the highs and lows, the unknown, the stability and being able to see beauty in so many people and things.

Musically I’m an instinctive player, enjoying a later life resurgence of musical learning – could be more disciplined! – and I love the guitar, handpan and harmonies. Oh yes, and did I mention the sea…..

Claudia Myatt

Sailor, singer, songwriter, boat dweller, sketchbook traveller, lover of the timeless beauty of Celtic tunes and any song with a good story, particularly if it’s about the sea. I play harp and autoharp, discovering fairly late in life that playing music is even more special than simply listening to it.

All I need to make me happy is a tidal river or the open sea, a sailing boat and harp. A glass or two of wine of course. And the sound of a curlew calling.

Anna Roberts

I am a recent addition to Quaynotes and loving every mad minute! Singing, playing music and sailing has been a big part of my life. I play guitar and ukulele and love to harmonise. Previously I formed and played in a band and sang as backing vocals in a Fleetwood Mac tribute event, and I have been part of various choirs. Currently I enjoy playing in sessions and I sing with a choral society.

I have a real connection with the coast and sea, and have sailed my own boats up down the Suffolk rivers. I have also discovered adventures on tall ships around the Scottish coast.
I am a mermaid…a Maldon mermaid as I love to swim in any waters.

I am a traveller and always curious to see what’s round the corner. I have a half life in with my Indian family in Tamil Nadu, Southern India.
